This plate set was done for a project that sought to recontextualize extinct animals in a new format. I have a trilobite fossil that I found hiking in upstate New York and used it as my inspiration for creating these. Plates stack on top of each other which I thought was an interesting narrative structure for fossils that are encased in layers of rock. I included a plate symbolizing the present-day to show how little can be deduced by some future civilization if all they had were our bones.
